Wales. My adopted home. A breathtaking land: valleys, mountains, water. Just a few miles from me lies the Elan valley whose reservoirs supply Birmingham . Now, as well as being a showcase of Victorian engineering it is a magnet for those who wish to walk, cycle and enjoy its unspoilt tranquility. What better backdrop to inspire, design and make?

I like to make individual items for individuals. Mass production has its place, but lacks personal connection. I aspire to provide quality, craftsmanship, novelty, for those who wish to bring something unique with a known history into their homes.

My work involves many woods from trees you will recognise on a day out to the countryside or a walk in the park and those from far-flung lands which lend something very special to the end piece. Attention to detail and a real care about the outcome are very important to me, and, I believe, my customers.

I am fascinated by both Shaker and Arts & Crafts furniture so I make pieces in these styles. Additionally, I create a selection of kitchen utensils and gifts.

I am a member of The Makers’ Guild in Wales (https://www.makersguildinwales.org.uk/), an association of craftspeople from all disciplines, whose aim is to promote “craft” and the “arts” to the people of Wales (and beyond, of course!). We have a gallery in Cardiff Bay which is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The site shows a small selection of my work which I hope provides a flavour of my style. “Sawcuts” is designed to provide information on how some items are made.
